We Head to Louisiana for Gramma’s Birthday

We drove down Friday morning, November 16th. We dropped my mom off at Gramma’s house (her mom). Dad, Jackie, and I then rolled on to Alexandria to see my dad’s side of the family. We all gathered at my Nanny and Uncle Harry’s house for dinner. They made a gumbo, and I haven’t had that in forever. I went back for seconds and basically made a big pig out of myself. We spend the night at my grandmother’s house and then headed back up to Winnsboro to see the other side of the family the next morning.

We arrived at Gramma’s house that afternoon, and they already had some finger food on the table. We had a really lazy afternoon which was just fine by me. I sat around and watched college football while others talked and cooked in the kitchen. The rest of our family showed up around 4 PM, and Gramma’s house started to get small very quickly. Everyone eventually fixed a plate and settled in for dinner. Afterwards, we cut Gramma’s birthday cake and watched her open presents. Jackie and I left around 6:30 and got back on the road. We were going to wait until Sunday morning, but we wanted to get home and straighten up before my parents and Gramma came through on their way back to Missouri.

It was a fast trip with a lot of driving, but I am really glad we got to see everyone again.
